pH Management and Buffers

One of the few things every hydroponics setup has in common is its reliance on careful control and management of the nutrient solution provided. While it’s important to provide plants with ideal growing conditions in the indoor environments in general, you cannot and will not succeed without perfectly balanced nutrient solution. It is the solution you provide that will give your plants the essential building blocks they require to perform to their full potential. Along with ensuring that the solution contains the ideal balance of nutrients, it is also critically important to ensure that the solution is of the highest quality and within the required pH range. Anything to the contrary and you run the risk of damaging or even destroying your plants, ultimately resulting in disappointing yields.

Control and management of pH levels is something that cannot be achieved by way of guesswork or assumptions. Instead, it is a case of investing in a professional quality metre or monitoring device, along with the required buffers and additional products to correct any imbalance where necessary. PH buffers are essential for calibrating and recalibrating pH measuring devices, in order to ensure that all subsequent readings are as accurate and reliable as possible.  However, this only applies when and where the highest quality pH buffers are used – substandard products having the potential to produce misleading results.

Ideal Growing Conditions
Here at Hydrosys, our core priority is to make every aspect of hydroponic growing at a professional level as affordable, accessible and enjoyable as possible. We believe that providing plants with the ideal growing conditions at all times does not necessarily need to be difficult, complicated or expensive.  Instead, it’s simply a case of working with the most reliable and capable hardware, accessories and electronics on the market – as used by professional cultivators all over the world. The higher the quality of the hardware and accessories you use, the easier it is to create the ideal growing conditions in which your plants will thrive.

The importance of accurate pH measuring and management cannot be overstated, given the way in which a pH level that is too low or too high could damage or even destroy your plants. This applies to both hydroponic and soil growing methods alike, calling for a proactive approach to pH management and control. If you do not keep a close and constant eye on the quality of your nutrient solution or the soil in which your plants grow, you run the risk of detecting problems only when it is too late to do anything about them.
